Landscape Paintings

When the weather is nice, I might get the urge to paint outside.  I like to work from nature, usually with some building or structure as part of the scene.  I work quickly, because there is a really good chance I might not be able to get back a second time.  I take photos to remind me, but generally, I try to work from the feeling that I remember.  Sometimes, it's a fight with the elements-- the sun, wind, lots of curious people, but I try to use all of these distractions in order to keep me from getting too controlled.  If I'm holding up a painting with one fingertip (so it won't blow over) and I am trying to paint with the other hand, the physical awkwardness is somehow freeing because I can't get too precious. At least, I hope so.
